I kill my wife and marry you!

Here I am, blogging from London! We’ve been away for two weeks now, and have visited Dubai, all over Egypt, and London. It’s been an experience so far! I’ll try and get as much as I can remember down, we’ve done so much that It’s quite tricky to recall it all.

Dubai
We arrived in Dubai at 5am in the morning, and the place was busy already. There were seemingly endless cars on the road, and driving safely seemed to be a feat in its own. The first thing I noticed is how clean Dubai is – the place is spotless. You very rarely see trash on the ground, which is surprising, because even Sydney wasn’t this clean.

The first day in Dubai, we visited the Mall of the Emirates, which is bloody huge. You could get lost so easily in there! The mall near where I live in Sydney is big… I swear that this mall is about 10 times bigger than the one back home. We also visited some souks (markets), where dad got a replacement wedding ring, because he snapped his the weekend before playing cricket. That night we did a river cruise dinner. It took us an hour and a half to drive 20 minutes down the road because of a major accident. It was absolutely ridiculous. The food wasn’t that flash either. Plus, they charged dad about $60AU for a shitty Australian wine you could get back home for about $10. haha.

Baubles and Trinkets

The next day, we had breakfast at a ski lodge in Ski Dubai, a ski centre in the Mall of the Emirates. It was bizarre, sitting in a ski lodge, in Dubai, were the temperature was in its 30s each day. We visited some more markets and explored a bit. That evening we did a “Safari” where you go 4 wheel driving on the sand dunes, watch the sun set, and then have an Arabian-Style evening, where you sit on cushions to eat, watch a belly dance, smoke out of a massive bong with this flavoured stuff in it (it’s not addictive or a drug, I really don’t know what to call it) and get a Henna tattoo. I had my left hand tattooed – Unfortunately, I didn’t get a photo before it faded, simply because I didn’t have a lens capable of taking a photo from so close (Lames.) It was a really awesome experience though, driving through the sand dunes. Our driver was pretty erratic, and possibly mildly insane, but it was really fun. I also snowboarded down a sand dune – I’ve never skied or snowboarded, so I was amused that my first experience was on sand. On our way to the dinner, we got a flat tyre. It was pretty crazy to watch them change this tyre on the sand. In the dark. Haha. We kept joking that we were going to have to spend the night in the desert.

Egypt
We flew to Cairo, Egypt next. Lets just say that if you drive on the roads in Cairo, you have a death wish, and if you try and cross a road, you’re suicidal. The roads were absolutely insane! On our first day, we visited various monuments, including the huge statue of Ramses II, the step pyramid, and the Giza plateau. It was pretty incredible. The Pyramids were absolutely amazing, I was completely awestruck by them. The Sphinx was pretty cool too. We rode a camel around the Giza plateau. I literally screamed the entire way, because if the camel in front of us wasnt trying to poop on my feet, the camel that my brother and I were on was trying to overtake it, and kept crushing my bad foot between two fat camels. Eugh.

Camel

Our second day in Cairo involved visiting the Cairo museum, the markets, and the mosque. I got several marriage proposals in the markets, including a “Oh miss, you dropped something … My heart!” and “I will kill my wife and marry you.” Dad offered 3 camels to some guy for me. I didn’t realise I was worth so much ;)

Mosque

Gaps

We flew to Luxor the next day, and boarded a Nile cruise, which ended in Aswan. The cruise was pretty ordinary to be honest. The food was shocking, and there wasn’t much to do. We did stop pretty regularly. I swear i’ve seen a million ancient temples now. By the last day we were so sick of temples. Through the cruise we saw some places like the Valley of the Kings and Queens and Neferteri’s temple. After the cruise we flew to Abu Simbel to see Ramses II’s monuments there, they were pretty extraordinary. That said, I never want to see another temple again. Hahah

We spent another two nights in Cairo at the end of the trip. I managed to get a bad case of Gastro from our night in Aswan, which was pretty disgusting. I’m still getting over it really.

As mentioned, We’re in London now. We’ve been here two nights so far. I think I’ll have to blog about this some other day, because I’m being hassled to go get dressed. Haha.

I miss everyone a lot, especially James, Trish, Rosey and the bitches over at SexMB. I hope everyone is well! *hugs!*

First off, I want to follow your friend on twitter but when I clicked the link it showed up as a non-existent page on twitter. Secondly, can I just say I’m so jealous of all the traveling you’ve been doing? In a matter of a couple of weeks you’ve traveled more than I have in my whole life, ha. Your pictures are so nice, what kind of camera do you use? Also, the flavored stuff you smoked out a giant bong was most likely Shisha (flavored tobacco), and it’s smoked through a hookah which usually has multiple hoses coming from it. The marriage proposal part of your blog cracked me up, and if I didn’t want to go to Egypt already, I definitely do now. And, one more thing totally not related to your current blog, I noticed on your sidebar, you have a little bar marking your progress of your weightloss, first off, how are you going about loosing weight? And secondly, how did you get that little bar because I want you to mark my progress.

Anyways, your blog is very cute :)

My name is Sarah and I'm a 20 year old Austra-kiwi. I'm studying a Bsci majoring in biology at the University of Auckland, and as a result, I'm full to the brim with useless science information that nobody will ever really want to know. My passions are photography, art, and writing, and I delve into all three every chance I can get. I have a fair few obsessions, all of them obnoxiously embarrasing, but they shape me into the insane nutjob I am.
